How we choose
Useful in the real world.
We begin with the job a product needs to do and the person likely to use it. Brand recognition alone is not a reason to recommend something, and a higher price is not proof of better fit.

Clear labels
Research is not the same as testing.
We distinguish what we have used from what we have researched. We do not claim personal testing, ownership, or long-term experience unless the work supports that claim.
- Personally used or tested
- We have direct, relevant experience with the item or service. We explain the scope of that experience and do not turn a brief encounter into a long-term durability claim.
- Researched recommendation
- The recommendation is based on current product information, intended use, materials, construction, dimensions, care guidance, reputable sources, and audience fit. It is not presented as hands-on experience.
- Affiliate relationship
- A qualifying purchase through a labeled link may earn Distill My Heart Adventures a commission. The relationship does not guarantee a recommendation.
- Product received free or discounted
- A maker, retailer, or representative supplied access on terms different from an ordinary purchase. The arrangement is disclosed with the relevant coverage.

Specific enough to verify.
For researched recommendations, we favor current manufacturer specifications, care instructions, official product pages, and reputable merchant information. We write original descriptions instead of reproducing sales copy.
We omit volatile details such as price when we cannot maintain them reliably. Availability, product specifications, and merchant policies can change, so readers should verify time-sensitive details before purchasing.
